I was offered to work for an oil company at port Harcourt, Delta, River State, southwest Nigeria. Is it safe?
Has anyone been there? What should I expect in terms of social life, weather, disease hazards, ...etc??I was offered to work for an oil company at port Harcourt, Delta, River State, southwest Nigeria. Is it safe?
If you're going to live there, be careful about your living habits. Because some small things to us are very illegal over there.

It is safe for the most part.. i would not venture out too far away though.. They just released some men they kidnapped off a drilling rig a few days ago...
I would choose a different place to go is what I recommend...

I haven't been there. It's not safe. No social lifes. Decease hazardrs yes. They better pay real good for that. If you need the money badly enough and have reasonable common sense you might survive.
I travel/live there,speak some Yoruba,know most senior influentials,arms in the boot of my car,driver best friend,do not and never did and never will work for any oil company,never ever walk alone in places I do not know,never feel safe and wish I was born with eyes in the back of my head.

I asked in our indian embasssy.they didn't say anything. But now want your help. Please help to me.I applied for offshore oil and limited and get appointment in nigeria. i need company details?
any business deal from Nigeria is something to worry about.. There have been many documentaries on the fraud that goes on there.. I would cease any businesss relationships with anyone from there.. If it sounds too good to be true, it usually is.

It's primarily the military potential of the US which prevents true nationalisation of oil for the good of the people. Nigeria is in fact (GDP) etc the most economically promising country in Africa south of the Sahara.
As far as Iraq goes the Baathist Party that took over after the revolution was moderate mildly socialist, and Muslim, but tolerant.
The country had the regions' best schools, hospitals and infrastructure but frustration with Big Oil paved the way for the demagogue Saddam as had the Treaty of Versailles paved the way for Hitler.
You need not wonder why Iraqi oil is not benefiting the people. Halberton and the US benefit by appropriating the oil and then ';benefiting'; the people (as I would suppose you would say it) by killing them.Is Iraq turning out just like nigeria and third world countries rich in oil?
