Do any one knows about MAXTONE GROUPS LIMITED company oil and gas sector in nigeria ,,,?

I have checked and i cant find any company with that name.

shorrie

I was offered to work for an oil company at port Harcourt, Delta, River State, southwest Nigeria. Is it safe?

Has anyone been there? What should I expect in terms of social life, weather, disease hazards, ...etc??I was offered to work for an oil company at port Harcourt, Delta, River State, southwest Nigeria. Is it safe?
If you're going to live there, be careful about your living habits. Because some small things to us are very illegal over there.

The HIV/AIDS rate in Nigeria is much lower compared to the other African nations such as Kenya or South Africa whose prevalence (percentage) rates are in the double digits. Nigeria, like many developing countries, also suffers from a polio crisis as well as periodic outbreaks of cholera, malaria, and sleeping sickness. As of 2004, there has been a vaccination drive, spearheaded by the W.H.O., to combat polio and malaria that has been met with controversy in some regions [2].I was offered to work for an oil company at port Harcourt, Delta, River State, southwest Nigeria. Is it safe?
HI,,, where are you from??

It is safe for the most part.. i would not venture out too far away though.. They just released some men they kidnapped off a drilling rig a few days ago...

I would choose a different place to go is what I recommend...

and I am in the oil business ....

good luck
It is safe for the most part of it. But dont get careless you could be kidnapped.

Which of the oil companies will you work with?

Shell,Texaco,Agip,Elf,Mobil????
it is not safe

social life is a friendship with your bottle

weather is lousy

disease hazards, many.

be careful
I haven't been there. It's not safe. No social lifes. Decease hazardrs yes. They better pay real good for that. If you need the money badly enough and have reasonable common sense you might survive.
I travel/live there, speak some Yoruba, know most senior influentials, arms in the boot of my car, driver best friend,do not and never did and never will work for any oil company, never ever walk alone in places I do not know, never feel safe and wish I was born with eyes in the back of my head.
NO
The only thing I can assure you is that at one point in Nigerian Oil industry , you will be kidnapped at least once .

  • Is Iraq turning out just like nigeria and third world countries rich in oil?

In war but still exports much of the worlds oil not benefiting the people i wonder why? VOTE BUSHIs Iraq turning out just like nigeria and third world countries rich in oil?
    Sorry but Silly.

Are you the kind of person who would call liberal socialists such as I ';commies';. Of course what you are advocating is pretty left wing budgeting. It's primarily the military potential of the US which prevents true nationalisation of oil for the good of the people. Nigeria is in fact (GDP) etc the most economically promising country in Africa south of the Sahara.

As far as Iraq goes the Baathist Party that took over after the revolution was moderate mildly socialist, and Muslim, but tolerant.

The country had the regions' best schools, hospitals and infrastructure but frustration with Big Oil paved the way for the demagogue Saddam as had the Treaty of Versailles paved the way for Hitler.

You need not wonder why Iraqi oil is not benefiting the people. Halberton and the US benefit by appropriating the oil and then ';benefiting'; the people (as I would suppose you would say it) by killing them.Is Iraq turning out just like nigeria and third world countries rich in oil?
have you read the iraqis oil law- it a disgusting show of american rape of foreign resources. period
Do you have access to Iraqi budgetary transfer of funds? Iraq has always been rich in oil -- ranked 12th in Barrels per day output in 2005. Iraq refines, markets, sells and reaps the benefits from its oil production --period. Get over it!
Excuse me, what are you on about?

Who is BUYING and PROFITING from this oil?

    US Oil Companies, maybe?

    Blood money.
Abbas....I hate to tell you this, dear, but you cannot ';vote Bush'; again.
Like many countries in Africa, Iraq is engaged in a civil war. The only difference is this war was sparked by the United States. In the end, however, Iraq will end up a war torn, brutalized country.
i think the answer for this will be one single ';yes';.
its not benefitting the american people either.....whose it benefitting i wonder?
    What?

Its hard to say...Nigerian national petroleum corp is the government company that participates in the oil business there...They subsidaries are National Petroleum Investment Management Services (NAPIMS)

    Nigerian Petroleum Development Company (NPDC))

    The Nigerian Gas Company (NGC))

The Products and Pipelines Marketing Company (PPMC)

    Integrated Data Services Limited (IDSL)

Theres also the big guys in nigeria too...exxon, cheveron, agip, dutch royal petroleum, total, and texaco.

So if that company is real, there is no info on it and they dont seem to advertise themselves anywhere which is suspicious. If they ask you for money, then you know they are a scam. Also dont believe anything like ';they need you to send them a deposit for the plane ticket that they will refund you when you arrive'; or any garbage like that.

But to be on the fair side...they could just be a new company and thats why nobody has heard of them, but like i said...dont send them money

Consider anything from Nigeria as a SCAM.

Why is Nigeria such a poor country yet it's a oil-rich country?

    Corruption.

The vast majority of the money from oil never finds its way into the pockets of the poor, or into public works that would better their lot.Why is Nigeria such a poor country yet it's a oil-rich country?
It depends on your perspective. There are some Nigerians who are rich, billions by USA standards. In that sense the country is not poor, heck it is the 6th largest oil producer in the world.

On the flip side, only few are rich. The money is not as diversely spread out as you have in more developed countries like USA. This is due to poor management of oil money, corruption, unqualified people ruling, influence of external source like corporations etc- the key problem is distribution of the oil-money. The distribution is so bad that terrorist have developed in regions where the oil is mined but the people of the land receive little benefit. Why is Nigeria such a poor country yet it's a oil-rich country?
    Same as Mexico.

  • Have any you guys worked in the oil industry in nigeria??. going there next month,.?

Poor you. Make sure you travel in the country ONLY in company cars. Make sure the compound that you stay in when ashore is secure - there may be armed guards. Do NOT walk around at night alone. Always travel with others and if you are going out for a night on the town don't flash the cash. And lastly, steer clear of the ladies of the night.Have any you guys worked in the oil industry in nigeria??. going there next month,.?
I work for Baker Hughes...get a transfer out of Nigeria before you get there. It's no fun but it pays well for good reason. Too many uncertainties with the rebels and government, hostage takings etc. If you have a choice work in Balikpapan Indonesia or Singapore, and the women are awesome in the Far East. Oh yea, stay away from India, it smells REAL bad there. The Middle East?....go for Dubai only. If you have any more questions, mail me at Baaadsport@yahoo.Have any you guys worked in the oil industry in nigeria??. going there next month,.?
The place is full of Nigerians.
My brother is working in Nigeria at the moment. The stories he tells - believe me, A MacLean tells it like he is. My brother had to tell the prostitutes he was gay, just to be left alone. And the river pirates who come looking for hostages. He never ever walks out the compound without an armed guard.

Makes Cape Town sound like a picnic.

Rian - I am an African, my brother is South African. We're used to violence and living in fear. How dare you speak to us as though we're ignorant? Do you actually live in Nigeria? It's a country I've always wanted to visit. If you want to encourage good relations with your country, then learn to treat people with courtesy. You're ignorant.
i always had a suspicion that you corporate money grubbers were ignorant racist rednecks in business suits. F*uck you greedy un-cultured arsholes.

    ................

As for the person going there, just go with an open mind, and yes there is money to be made for white folks, theres plenty of locals to serve your every need, just like the rest of the world
Someone (named Ceasar's wife) had the nerve to compare Cape Town with the Niger Delta. Nucking Futs!!! They'd shoot you dead in South Africa for because of a Cellphone (let's not even talk about raping 6-month old babies... it only happens one place on earth... and it sure isn't Nigeria).

    South Africa is one of the reasons why Nigerians can have hope... We look at J'burg and Capetown and say to ourselves ';at least we're not that dangerous!!!';

Matt if you do come to Nigeria, it's not as bad as they say... It's not all gravy...but there's danger everywhere... Statistics don't lie... Check 4 yourself! You're probably less likely to be captured in Nigeria than to be shot in most US cities, kidnapped in Mexico or killed in South Africa.

But my advice is to stick to deepwater jobs... Onshore locations are usually less safer!

    See you then... blessomania@yahoo.com
It depends highly on the location of your work. Those stationed in the eastern states and on oil platforms are at a much higher risk than those pushing the papers in Lagos state or Abuja ( the Capital ).

And different oil companies vary much in their compensations and accomodations while you are here. So chose carefully. But it's not as bad as some might have you believe provided that you learn the local customs and don't go running around alone at night flashing money around etc.
and along with everything that the others have told you... here is some more good news for you:

If you do go there, please at least educate yourslef about the place, it's manifest problems and troubles before you go. Then you'll be ready for the bad things you see.

Nigeria? How does the extraction and exportation of oil affect conflict in Nigeria?
Nigeria is an under developed country and it depends upon the import of essential goods on other developed countries. Now the Oil is an item which is in great demand all over the world, and Nigeria is not exception. United States hold control on oil exportation in Arab Countries and as such the export of the oil to Nigeria is in conflicting policies of the Nigerian Govt. How does the extraction and exportation of oil affect conflict in Nigeria?
Probably adds to it but no one really cares that much in this world of must have oil at all costs.

How is the instability in Nigeria related to its oil wealth and corruption within its government?

Only the corrupt government and the oil producers of nigeria are profiting, correct? What does that have to do with the instability?

Also, do you have any sites that can give me more infor on this topic? How is the instability in Nigeria related to its oil wealth and corruption within its government?
It's a very common story in Africa and the mid east. It's about sacrificing long term prosperity for short term gains. Enriching the few at the expense of the many. Lets take Iraq for example (early Hussein years). You would think with such an abundant natural resource it would be a wealth country correct? But it is not. Because instead of the Iraqi government mining it's oil through Iraqi companies, selling it on the global market place, and using the revenue to invest in infrastructure, education, and social services, Hussein chose to, or was ordered to contract the mining of their oil to American companies. They buy the rights to the land and the oil at a fraction of what the all the oil is actually worth. They employ Iraqis but pay them slave wages. And instead of returning the income to the community from which it came, the profits are shipped back to US, meaning we everyday Americans enjoy the oil and our companies enjoy the profits. And what does Iraq get? Well Hussein gets to keep the money he made from auctioning off his oil fields, and since he's the only one in the country making money off the resources, he gets to remain his power. Short term goals are satisfied.

Similar kinds of thing have been going on in Africa for decades. In nigeria's case it's more than just oil but gemstones, rubber, and precious metals. All of which are owned by American companies so the true value of those resources are never utilized by the country from which it came. Corrupt governments make deals with foreign industries, taking a lump sum of cash in exchange for the long term wealth underneath the ground.

Sorry I don't know of any websites but you can search for articles on neo-imperialism in Africa and the mid east. It should helpHow is the instability in Nigeria related to its oil wealth and corruption within its government?

The palm oil industry was once a prime driver in the Nigerian economy. Then came competition from Malaysia (and others), independence and then rapid disintegration from around 1980.

If venezuela can take back their oil why can't Nigeria?

Nigeria should benefit from its resources. educate me why this is not a logical solution? If venezuela can take back their oil why can't Nigeria?
Venezuela is not taking anything back. They simply allowed other people to pay for their oil infrastructure - then stole it.

Theft is theft. If venezuela can take back their oil why can't Nigeria?
The people that ';try to take their oil back'; will be executed if other means do not work. An example is Ken Saro-wiwa. The corruption and mismanagement is so great that Nigeria might as well return to British rule. Puerto Rico will have a similar fate if it gains independence.
Nigeria and Venezuela are at two extremes politically, culturally, and, I dare say, socially.

Nigeria's oil is already in the hands of Nigerians. There is nothing to 'take back'. The oil companies are not fleecing Nigeria (except in the way that all large companies fleece us anyways). They pay a tax of 85% and the national oil corporation [NNPC] has a monster share of every single petroleum sharing contract or oil mining lease in the country.

Nigeria doesn't seem to benefit from their resources because the channels of finance are corrupt thieves. The North is relatively well developed on oil wealth. The Niger delta from where the oil comes is deprived. That has nothing to do with Mobil or Shell but with the thieving governments in the center as well as the state governments. Further, Nigeria is anything but a socialist society like Venezuela wants to be. Nigeria is totally capitalist and pursues privatization of industries. Nationalization didn't work when it was attempted in the early 70s.

The people (in the Niger Delta) themselves don't help matters. Corruption is almost accepted without question. They boldly defended a state governor who was arrested in Britain with 1.1M GBP in cash stating that it was ';their'; money that was stolen and Britain didn't have the right to arrest the governor - who, by the way, has no diplomatic immunity....go figure!
they can, if they want it bad enough.
The windfall of oil rent is an irresistible temptation for governments. Nigeria’s post-independence history would appear to be a telling confirmation of this. The ability of a small controlling elite to seize power and make deals with oil companies is just too strong for the forces of freedom and democracy to fight. Nigeria has, recently, been making steps in these fruitful directions, but the “oil curse” has continued to strongarm them, and no progress is made.

Cheers,Offshore oil and gas limited nigeria?
there is many ';companies'; in this country that maybe are not in this country!! this is generaly a fake. an oil and gas company will never ask you to pay anything about your travel (fly ticket or anything else). to help you to decide: if you've been contacted by email, if the email is from hotmail, yahoo, gmail or other you can be shure it's not good. an honesty company have his own site and so an example :

    soforoilandgas@gmail.com is a fake

    mrobertson@soforoilandgas.com ';may'; be good

just verify if ';soforoilandgas.com'; can be found in search yahoo.com.

if the site exist it can be a fake too, if you find article talking about him you can decide by yourself.

remember: the companies never ask you to pay your travel or airfares.

Be careful of the worldwide scam from Nigeria. They are many ways they do the scams. They may pose themselves as a very big company or even from the government bodies, show you the award letter from the government for a very big job, usually involves millions. All you require is to pay some small amount for so called lawyer fee, contract fee, registration, etc... in order to get the job. If you could let me know what kind of offers they give you, I should be able to tell you whether it's real or not real. In my experience and based on my knowledge, if you require to come out with any money upfront to get a job, it's most likey a scam. If need be, I can ask my client in Nigeria to find out for you whether it's a real deal. Or alternatively, you can contact nearby Nigerian Embassy for advice.

Does Algeria, Egypt and Libya produces oil.Is Nigeria the world leading Oil Extractors.?
No, Nigeria is not the world's biggest oil producer, nor is it the world's largest oil exporter.

Saudi Arabia is one of several countries that outdo Nigeria.

Algeria and Libya produce and export oil %26amp; natural gas, but I doubt Egypt does.Is Nigeria the world leading Oil Extractors.?
NO. WE ARE AROUND NUMBER 7
Don't know, but Nigerians are the world's leading scam artists. Even with all the oil.
Nigeria is currently the 10th largest oil producing nation in the world, according to this:

(Notice: It is ranked 12th, but ';World'; and ';European Union'; are not countries)

Algeria is 18th, so they do produce oil. Egypt is 26th, and Libya is ranked 16th, so all of the nations you've listed are oil-producing nations.
Yes Nigeria is a large oil producing state. Most of its reserves are in the southern part of the country, which has a lot of civil unrest due to the oil and control of it.

As for the others I know Libya has some, not sure how much, I believe Egypt has some as well. No idea on Algeria

Which crude oil ship left nigeria in 2003 for mexico?

Not sure. I've got a slight suspicion that Sunoco was the charterer though. I think a lot of their oil comes from there-their ships will then go to Philadelphia, PA to discharge.

Oil industry in Ecuador and Nigeria?

Describe three negative consequences of oil industry growth that have occurred in the cases of Nigeria and Ecuador.

10 points to the person with the right answerOil industry in Ecuador and Nigeria?
In Nigeria, the region where much of the oil drilling goes on is in the Niger Delta. This region has seen the rich agriculture and environment ruined due to oil spills.

Also, due to the oil extraction process natural gas is released and burned. In most countries with decent environmental laws, this gas is reinjected back into the ground. But greedy corporations and a corrupt Nigerian gov't don't care about the locals and burn it (flaring). This creates a disturbance especially at night when it produces a light that makes it look like day.

The oil giants such as Shell and Chevron have made profits while aiding the Nigerian gov't in oppressing the Ogoni people of the Niger Delta. They have protested and have been killed. Chevron called in the military and they opened fire on unarmed protesters. Dictators and corporations, perfect together.

Sorry I don't know much about Ecuador.

you know, if you are looking for environmental issues, go to the environment category because more experts about the environment are present there. mainly, environment is the most affected thing. if you are asking about culture, maybe their previous works about their culture were being started to be abandoned.

Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia....... We need oil. Is Nigeria next?

I'm hearing that the Nigerians are fighting foreign investors (Iincluding those from the United Stated) and oil giants in THEIR country. (Mostly kidnapping, and killing when necessary) Apparently there is a lot of corruption that has been going on for quite some time (over 100 billion in the hands of foreign thieves) Now the Nigerians are fighting back. Even though all we hear about are Nigerians siphoning THEIR OIL and perhaps being killed in the process, we do not hear about this rapidly growing resistance to foreign interests in Nigeria. Still, Exxon has pulled out. Others are sure to follow. Nigerians are some of the poorest people on earth. Yet oil revenues are in the billions. Foreign investors live in fortressed mansions and have all the luxuries available. But I guess these poor Black people want their land and resources back......Not that I blame them.Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia....... We need oil. Is Nigeria next?

So maybe something like... Saudi Arabia and Kuwait is basically US property (unless its Saudi Arabia who own USA),Kazakhstan (for Unocal), Then make their supposed North American Union and own Canada + Mexico. Then find terrorist in Libya and Venezuela.. They got them self Half of the world's oil reserve. Then Iran which will be protected by North Korea, Russia and China.

So we got N.A.U(North American Union) which own all of Middle east, With E.U. , Israel and Japan as ally using 3rd world's and South American people as soldiers against Russia,China, Iran, N. Korea and other surrounding countries. (let name them the A.S.U ';Asian Soviet Union)

...4 years of the usual war propaganda (my father is bigger than your) stuff, spies on both part, taunting on both sides, urge for the building of a weird and un-called-for underwater city...

Then R-A.U finally send simultaneous A.Bomb on west coast and north of N.A.U and in Middle of Saudi Arabia and England. N.A.U., E.U and friends send their new A.Bomb at the same time.

Everyone die beside one guy. The guy who made all the money out of this. But since without people to buy SUV, Gas and eating McDonalds while shopping at Walmart.. Money means nothing anymore.

He can finally live peacefully with fishes in his underwater city. Which was his main evil plan from the start.Afghanistan, Iraq, Somalia....... We need oil. Is Nigeria next?
For sure Nigeria is next it got the ethics needed for the civil war. But we all know the war there is going to be like Iraq war for oil.

If Nigeria is Africa's leading oil producer, why do more than half of its people live in poverty?

    corrupt leadership!!!

greedy governors who don't care about taking care of their people!!

Its shocking but its never going to changeIf Nigeria is Africa's leading oil producer, why do more than half of its people live in poverty?
underpaid labour- obviouslyIf Nigeria is Africa's leading oil producer, why do more than half of its people live in poverty?
    Because their lazy!

They expect everything to be given to them, they don't believe in making money the honest way.... Thats why we get the Nigerian 419 scams, Nigerian drug lords... etc.

I live in Africa, we deal with this on a daily basis.
Simply because the people who run the country keep the money for themselves; corruption is rife.

Corruption , bribery and the power of the gun is a way of life in that part of the world. Imagine the Wild West in the early days! I work offshore but would never in my life work in that part of the world. No point in being well paid if your shot or kidnapped.

As long as Western countries continue to be supplied with oil, they don't care. If someone came to power that threatened to stop the oil supply to the West, they would immediately be branded terrorists and the country ';liberated';.

    Just like Iraq really...
Because of there government, There government owe alto of money to other countries although alot of countries have wrote the death off now to try help the country there government are greedy and dont care about there people its very sad
    Corruption, next question!
There is the same percentage of poverty in Nigeria and India and Pakistan and Russia and Brazil and Mexico etc. Whats your point
Control, By keep the people poor and uneducated they can control them.
Who said the people should get the money. There are so many things the few can do with it and realy is it needed by those poor folk. What do they need money for.

I thought the Nigerians left and went to England.
May be Bush knows about the oil in Nigeria.
The same reason why there are 36 million people living in poverty here in the States, and why 47 million have no access to healthcare:

Greed, power, and selfishness by the rich--stepping on the backs of the poor and the down-trodden.
and, if messico has state owned oil production, why are all of their neglected citizens being pawned off on American taxpayers?
People drastically overrate the effects oil can have on a country's economy. A lot of the Arab countries have huge oil reserves and very small populations. They can become rich this way. In the cases of countries like Nigeria and Mexico, they have to divide that money up 100 million ways, which means that it can't contribute all that much to the per capita income. There are other issues, like corruption, etc., that make things even worse, but the fact is, that even in the absence of corruption, and even if the money were divided evenly, these people would not be wealthy.

Just look at the list of the wealthiest countries in the world. The only ones where oil revenues contribute substantially are Norway, Saudi Arabia, a few of the small gulf states and Canada. The rest are places with low levels of corruption and good educational systems, irrespective of their mineral resources.
Much wealth leaves the country with multinationals. There is of course some corruption and much of Nigerias revenue goes into paying for it's rather large army.

I all depends on the type of government in power and how they decide to spend their revenue as well. Look at Venezuela, they spend their oil revenue ';helping out friends';. Other countries spend their cash attracting more cash and building plush new cities, look at Saudi Arabia. No one factor can explain why Nigeria is still struggling.
    Corruption

Its the same here Britain is a wealthy nation but our politician's only look after their self interests %26amp; that of big business

import cheap labour to keep wages low %26amp; tax the workers whilst big companies %26amp; thier bosses pay very little tax

pro rata the average worker pays more tax than a chairman of a large company
Nigeria's oil supplies are probably controlled by the governenment and the corrupt politicians swindle the money. Lack of a proper economic system in place is causing the poverty.
Oh, you thought just because Nigeria has something valuable, that everyone would be rich?

Yeah... not how that works at all.
I've asked that before and even read an article in national Geographic. Basically it's out of greed. In the mid east countries the wealth is distributed among the people. In Nigeria it is not. The conditions and environment of that country is a catastrophe for most of it's people.
The answer is corruption by various government in power be it civil or military government.
You have to remember that the oil will be pumped out by an international company such as Shell or Texaco who will pay huge right to the government for this oil. The government are not going to give this money to it1s people, more likely they are using it to pay of debts to the World banks and arms.
like here they never like to work find a great motivated black country anywhere? NOT ONE. I wish there were but No Black nation on the Planet is succesful
    No freedom.

there is many ';companies'; in this country (that maybe are not in this country!!). if you recieve an offer by email, this is generaly a fake. an oil and gas company will never ask you to pay anything about your travel (fly ticket or anything else). to help you to decide: if you've been contacted by email, if the email is from hotmail, yahoo, gmail or other you can be shure it's not good. an honesty company have his own site and so an example :

just verify if ';soforoilandgas.com'; can be found in search yahoo.com.

Why is Nigeria still poor despite having all that oil?

The same reason why Iraq and Iran are so poor. Even Saudi Arabia the kargest oil producer in the world has 30 percent of its population below the poverty line. Wealth is not always distributed evenly. The owners of the oil companies are rich, but the workers kjust get enough to live. Corruption is widespread and there is almost no system of welfare. Wealth is in the hands of a few and many continue to starve. Why is Nigeria still poor despite having all that oil?
Political corruption and corporate corruption in that African country is huge and everything is sponsored by powerful groups in the west and the USA, oil has not benefited socially and economically to a large population of Nigeria. Why is Nigeria still poor despite having all that oil?
An unequal distribution of capitalism. Like Mexico, it is corrupt, resulting in rich and poor.

JESUS CHRIST MAN NEEM OIL IS FROM NIGERIA FROM LAGOS AND DEFINETLY FROM AZADIRSCHTA INDICA!!!

Why is Nigeria a Petro State? What is going on there, with their oil?

Nigeria has a massive oil industry that accounts for some 40% of the GDP.. however, as a result of petro-dollars - there is a also huge amount of corruption. Nigeria has a notoriously poor history of human rights.

From the 50's through to 1999 oil companies (notably Shell) financed a series of brutal dictators. In their haste to rape the land of the resources and the blind eye of corrupt local officials - the environment, and especially the wetlands of the Niger Delta are on the verge of collapse.

In part due to Islamic/Christian friction, ethnic diversity and the wholesale environmental degredation - militants have begun to target oil facilities.

Nigeria produced 800,000 barrels a day of light sweet crude for the world economy. The Vanity Fair article below dicusses the CIA hypothsis regarding losing that capacity due to rebelion and the importance of stabilizing the region. Why is Nigeria a Petro State? What is going on there, with their oil?
They drive cars in Africa too. That's where it ends up.Why is Nigeria a Petro State? What is going on there, with their oil?
Because the populous African nation depends on oil to finance almost every inch of their economy which is dismal anyway; besides that, the bulk of the petro dollars are stashed in Zurich bank vaults and some in other foreign secret bank accounts.

KNOWN SCAMS/ SCAM COMPANIES on ythis site too

There are plenty of unscrupulous people posing as recruiters and/or employers. They always offer attractive job opportunities which ALWAYS require the Job Seeker to pay them money in advance. This is usually for work visas or travel expanses or out-of-pocket expenses etc.

Be very, very wary of anyone requesting such payments.

Most people have heard of the Nigerian 419 scams that offer to transfer large sums of money into your bank account so as people became weary of e-mails from Nigeria, the fraudsters have changed their base to Europe. We have been made aware of companies supposedly operating out of Switzerland and Liechtenstein offering similar scams.

Recent scams involve lucrative offers of employment in European, the Middle East or Nigeria with money demanded to be paid to an agency or travel agent for visa or travel costs. Never send money, credit card or bank account details to anyone to secure or apply for a job. Any reputable company or agency will absorb these costs themselves.Anybody knows about Geomech Oil Nigeria company limited ?

What does this have to do with the topic of immigration?
Lots of scam artists in the Job market.

    Rule No. one.

You do not have to pay to get the job.

If overseas job employer arranges the visa, if you try on your own to ge the visa, you will not get it , few exceptions may be their, but few.

None so far - just making the elite even more rich and even more corrupt. The people of the Niger delta have received nothing to have their lands decimated.

This is to say that all Nigerian Economic strenght lies on oil instead of diverse to means like Agriculture. Is it true that the major Economic problem of Nigeria today is oil.?
I won't put it that way... oil is not Nigeria's problem, in fact it is the biggest solution!

Development will take place by other means also but if they utilise their oil reserves judiciously then growth may well be exponential....

No darling. There's no company going by that name.

The website link in the earlier answer goes to the site of a webdesign company. (I'll be surprised if they get any business... with the state of that site.)

Is there any particular reason why you want information about this 'company' though?Biotech Oil Nigeria Limited?

In Nigeria, who are these people who are shooting at Oil workers and kidnapping them?

Why are they doing this?In Nigeria, who are these people who are shooting at Oil workers and kidnapping them?
Rebels. They are violently protesting Americans and other big oil companies around the world from exploiting their natural resources.

My fiance went to work over there for a few jobs. People come in from all over the world to reap the benefits of their oil stocks. They have plentiful resources...yet the country is in severe poverty. They don't see the wealth from it...only the country's leaders do. It makes them rebel. Unfortunately...it's in a violent manner. In Nigeria, who are these people who are shooting at Oil workers and kidnapping them?
just normal poor people. its not all their fault. they don't get any benefit from oil that belongs to the country even though they are nigerian. they have to pay alot of money for gas for living during winter or burners. but the government doesn't care about them freezing or dying. So here is that question. They have to die 'cause they were born poor? or they have to let their children

suffer from the fear of death to frozen or hunger even though

the government does nothing for the people, just selling oil to abroad and taking money for only themselve?
third world...its been happening for years in third world countrys..they are peasents
They want to get paid and resent Americans working there and feel as though they are being ripped off it is very scary there and they even paddle 7 miles out to try and take over work bardges It is different tribes.

Nigeria has a comparative advantage in oil production and US has comparative advantage of soybean production.?

Which groups is worse off if these two countries specialize and trade?

    a)Nigerian oil producters

    b)Nigerian soybean producers

    c)US soybean producers

d)All of the groups above are better off when specialization and trade take place.

I am pretty sure it is d. But wanted to ask to see if i was right. thanks.Nigeria has a comparative advantage in oil production and US has comparative advantage of soybean production.?
    B nigerian soybean producers.

Unless Nigerian soybean producers can expect some sort of compensation, they are going to be worse off because soybean growers in the US can grow soybeans more cheaply than in Nigeria, so if there is trade, than the US soybean imports will be cheaper than the minimum price at which Nigerian soybean growers are willing to produce, which will put them out of business. However, because the economy as a whole will benefit, the government could promise to give Nigerian soybean growers some piece of the gains from trade as compensation, which means they could be better off. But, without government intervention, they will be worse off.

pls help me...I got a job in rock oil nigeria plc, is it a scam company or real one? pls help me?
Nigerians are notorious for internet scams. This has every indication of being an ';advance fee'; scam. The nigerians often make it seem that you are about to receive something of great value, but to get it you must pay some money up front. If you pay, they will come up with more fees you have to pay.

Ask yourself this one crucial question:

If you were an employer and you were willing to pay a huge salary like $18,200 a month, wouldn't you pay the $1,470 yourself to get your employee into the country?

This is a scam. If it were a real company it would be mentioned on more than one website in a google search. Sorry, but you aren't the first to get up hopes over what these Nigerian frauds have to offer.I got a job in rock oil nigeria plc, is it a scam company or real one? pls help me?
If they are asking you for money, most likely it is a scam. especailly if they request you to send via western union or asking you to use a wire method. Most nigeria, job offers are fraudelent scams, don't get conned. If there was jobs offering that much money, they would hire their own, jobless people, who are starving.
it is a scam . iam a nigerian lawyer and i have handled a lot of cases like yours . what the idiots are looking for is your $1400 .dont do it. by the way a quick search at the coporate affairs dept tells you there is no company like this incorporated anywhere in nigeria
Scam. You need to ask?? If you had qualifications to be making Almost 20,000 USD per month, you would know it.

Try doing a search on the internet for this company and see if it exists. Don't You know that Nigeria is the Home of the Internet Scams??

Here are the main players in the Bonny Island Gas Project:

The supply of additional gas feedstocks will be provided by the upstream oil and gas joint ventures operated respectively by the Shell Petroleum Development Company (SPDC) of Nigeria Limited and by Nigeria Agip Oil Company Limited.

The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) is the major partner in both these joint ventures. Other partners are Elf Petroleum Nigeria Limited and Phillips Oil Company of Nigeria.
its a scam any company willing to pay that much will pay for you moving and all of that up front. Think about it ,that would be like a day and a half of work at that pay. It wouldnt hurt the company to pay for it. And unless you have some extreem skill no one is going to pay that much. I went to work for two years in kuwait and egypt and i made about 8500.00 per moth tax free but I also am ex military and have a masters degree. Just use common sense

You can also check the news to find out what companies have projects in Nigeria and contact those companies to inquire about job opportunities.

well, it is not the best season to get hired over there, you know? never the kidnapping has been that high...

anyway your courage should be paid well; a part for example monster.com, i would simple search on the net whose is operating there and contact them directly (at their home office AND locally); also check all those subcontractor companies from all over the world and contact them directly, sending a resume/cv and the your motivation (for ex no family etc), why you are ready to work in a high risk environment

    ...in alternative you may go also in Iraq (where this month they start to make pieces of the petrol cake), the pay may be even higher for similar risk level (depends where you work);

    good luck

What is the current situation in Nigeria in terms of conflict between oil corporations?

The conflicts are more between Oil Corporations on one side and the local tribes on the other. Nothing has changed I m afraid, it is like a big cruel game, the Oil Companies exploit the local territory and the local tribes exploit the Oil giants with small episodes of violence, just to get some money out of them. It will be always like this becasue of the incentives in place in the area

Is it risky to go to Nigeria for a job in oil company?

The risk is certainly much higher than getting a job in Nowhereville, OH.

If the US gives money to an African nation like Nigeria so government stops rebels from disrupting oil?

or gives to rebels to overthrow a government that's impeding oil sales, that's called AID.

What is it called then when Japan, Canada, China etc give the US billions of dollars so their economy won't collapse? Should the rest of the world talk about stopping foreign aid to America?

Isn't it globally Socialist to not let the US fall apart? Shouldn't we let the US collapse so they can remain a Capitalist fundamentalism? How do they explain a Communist country bankrolling them?

So many questions...If the US gives money to an African nation like Nigeria so government stops rebels from disrupting oil?
The US has a different type of socialism but it is still socialism. When the Government bails out the banks it is socialism; when the Government helps the car industry it is socialism. When the Government employ the armed forces for the oil companies it is corporate crime in action.

The only difference between capitalism and communism is that the communists try to take care of all citizens while the capitalist regime in the US is only concerned about the well being of great corporations. If the US gives money to an African nation like Nigeria so government stops rebels from disrupting oil?
The U.S. buys too much of China's imported cheap junk to call the money they Loan us Aid, it is more of a you scratch my back, I'll scratch yours.

The Elite Politicians and Filthy Rich get Richer, while the American Taxpayers get screwed with not only having our jobs outsourced, but also being forced to pay the tab.
These countries do not give us aid. Without the vast US economy and consumerism those countries wouldn't have an economy. Those countries invest in the US to make money not give us anything.

  • Is there Oil and Gas reserve in the Benue Trough located in the North central part of Nigeria?

THERE IS A LOT OF OIL AND GAS RESERVE IN THE NIGER DELTA REGION OF NIGERIA. IT IS BELIEVED THAT THE BENUE TROUGH LOCATED IN THE MIDDLEBELD TO THE NORTH OF THE NIGER DELTA MIGHT HAVE OIL AND GAS RESERVES. CAN SOMEONE DISCUSS THIS TOPIC?Is there Oil and Gas reserve in the Benue Trough located in the North central part of Nigeria?
There is indeed enormous amounts of oil and natrual gas in this region. China is looking to move into to partner with Nigeria to extract some of it. However, China like the multinational corporations that already work in the area is find the extraction very difficult.

The local people are suffering all the effects (environmental degradation and health problems) without any of the rewards like people in other oil regions have. The results are uprisings that have all but stopped the oil extraction down the delta to the sea.

Also, gas lines continue to be attacked, and Nigeria may suffer complete blackouts as these gas lines are used to provide energy to the hydro generating stations in the country. It would seem to get the locals onside, it might be a good idea to share the wealth and not poison their environment. It's a novel concept but might just work!

By the way, as Peaknik, I don't believe that Nigeria has the necessary reserves to turn the tide of Hubbert's Peak.Is there Oil and Gas reserve in the Benue Trough located in the North central part of Nigeria?
There are deposits of oil and gas in the Benue Trough. However, the viability of oil mining in the area and the Environmental Impact Assessment are yet to indicate that exploitation can begin.

  • Has Nigeria become a basket case or is it just the curse of Oil ?

Why so many scams comes out of Nigeria ? What could be future for Nigerian businesses which are operating abroad ? Which are large Nigerian businesses abroad ?Has Nigeria become a basket case or is it just the curse of Oil ?
Nigeria is already a basket case. It's the most populous country that is also the most corrupt. Their oil industry is the most unstable oil industry in the world, and acts of terrorism occur on a daily basis. Most of which are not reported in the media. Nigeria has ongoing land disputes with neighboring countries, and violence is common. Oil wealth has not solved any of the country's poverty issues, it has only made a handful of corrupt individuals wealthy. Nigeria ranks very low in women's rights. Female genital cutting (a Muslim practice not endorsed by the Koran) is widespread in the north.

Scams come from Nigeria because it is easy for a Nigerian to start a fraudulent business in a neighboring country and have goods or money sent to Nigeria. In Western countries laws are tight, but in Nigeria they are very loose.
