Nigeria is already a basket case. It's the most populous country that is also the most corrupt. Their oil industry is the most unstable oil industry in the world, and acts of terrorism occur on a daily basis. Most of which are not reported in the media. Nigeria has ongoing land disputes with neighboring countries, and violence is common. Oil wealth has not solved any of the country's poverty issues, it has only made a handful of corrupt individuals wealthy. Nigeria ranks very low in women's rights. Female genital cutting (a Muslim practice not endorsed by the Koran) is widespread in the north.


Scams come from Nigeria because it is easy for a Nigerian to start a fraudulent business in a neighboring country and have goods or money sent to Nigeria. In Western countries laws are tight, but in Nigeria they are very loose.
